Man kills boyfriend of estranged partner at Caroline motel before fatally
The son of a former state senator killed a man in a Caroline County motel and shot and killed himself following a police chase on Interstate 95. That’s when authorities heard a single gunshot coming from the SUV, where they later found Houck dead of an apparent suicide.
Houck fired the shots after confronting his ex-partner and her boyfriend at a Bowling Green motel around 8 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.
Sheriff’s deputies pursued the SUV through the town of Bowling Green. The case remains under investigation, Virginia State Police said. “Then a gunshot was heard from inside the vehicle”, said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller. The unidentified woman was unharmed. She is considered a victim and is being interviewed by police, they said. “In view of our son’s long history of mental illness, it is our hope and wish that appropriate treatment can now begin”.
Edd served as a Democrat in the Virginia Senate from 1984 until 2012, the year after he was defeated by Sen.
“The deputies and troopers were able to use their vehicles to bring the suspect to a stop near the 124 mile marker in Spotsylvania County”. Early in the standoff, he called the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and threatened to harm himself, according to police broadcasts. He surrended only after a SWAT team burst into the home with tear gas.
In March 1998, Todd T. Houck, then 18, pleaded guilty to five misdemeanors, including marijuana possession.
The abduction charge was later dropped and the sodomy county was downgraded to contributing to the delinquency of a minor as a part of a plea deal.
