Man mourns loss of boyfriend killed in California shooting
Speaking to CBS News moments after the news broke of the San Bernardino shootings, Mr. Obama said the frequency of United States mass shootings “has no parallel anywhere else in the world”.
Numerous people killed have been identified and some of the family notifications have already been made, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said. They died together on Wednesday, shot at an office holiday party, allegedly by a co-worker. That’s where the suspects in Wednesday’s shooting were killed by police during a shootout. Authorities are still working to determine the couple’s motive.
Here are some of the victims and their stories.
Kaufman ran the coffee shop at the Inland Regional Center where the shooting occurred.
The next 22 hours were tortuous hell for Reyes who received numerous conflicting reports-until he learned that Kaufman was among the 14 murdered at the center when he was not among the traumatized survivors unloaded off buses at the community center.
“We don’t know if this [the Christmas party] was the intended target or if there was something that triggered him to do this immediately”, Mr Bowdich said.
A man, who worked for the county as a restaurant inspector, and his wife – both wearing black tactical gear and wielding assault rifles – opened fire at the center, authorities said. Amusing and smart and tall.
“It’s very unlikely that he survived”, said Abraham. The photo that Reyes shared of Kaufman was from a Renaissance Faire, and on a Facebook page dedicated to it, one acquaintance remembered: “Daniel was a valued member of St. Cuthbert’s Guild”.
“He had an incredibly good work ethic”, Ed Beck, the husband of one of his former colleagues, said.
Reyes described Kaufman to authorities for identification: just under 6 feet tall and around 195 pounds, wearing black dress shoes with square toes, khakis, and a black polo shirt, which was the uniform he wore for his job at Coffee N More. “He was passionate about it. He wanted to make sure people were safe”. Action News spoke with her and the younger of their two sons Jacob Thursday.
“I want answers and I want them now, because now, it’s personal!” wrote friend Yael Zarfi-Markovich on Facebook. The couple were Messianic Jews, his wife said.
“He was a wonderful person”, Joey Shimoni, a friend of Thalasinos, told the AP.
Mary Hale, who managed the property where Clayborn lived with her boyfriend, said she was “someone special”.
Michael Raymond Wetzel, 37, an environmental health supervisor, had three children by his first marriage and three by his second, Renee.
His church confirmed on its website that he was one of the victims.
“Michael was the most awesome person”, Renee Wetzel wrote in a statement released by the church. He was my best friend and an incredible father who was loved by all. I pray through all our differences you know at one point how much loved you.
