Man Plummets Off Deck of Royal Caribbean Ship
The US Coast Guard on Saturday, suspended its search for a passenger who fell off the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis of the Seas.
Officials said an airplane and helicopter crews had searched an area covering 931 square nautical miles northeast of Mayaguana.
On Sunday, Winkleman said that Texeira was “definitely inebriated, crying, swearing at crew members who may have followed him”.
Winkleman said the victim and his husband were both recording video on their cell phones prior to the incident, and it may be key to showing what lead up to the fall.
Royal Caribbean Cruises has ordered a fifth Quantum class ship at Meyer Werft in Germany for delivery in the second half of 2020.
According to The Advocate, the couple received comments from staff such as, “Hi, Lipstick”.
“A big altercation ensued”, explained Winkleman. “As a result went back to his room and was furious”. “He fell overboard, and Royal Caribbean was right there on the scene as he fell in”, Winkleman said.
“Oasis of the Seas” passengers who witnessed the man going overboard and who were trying to hold on to him were terrified when the Brazilian national just yelled at them to let him go and not to touch him.
The Oasis of the Seas returned to Florida on Saturday after a week-long Caribbean cruise, said Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez. Royal Caribbean claims it was an attempted suicide after a domestic dispute between Elbaz and his husband.
The company released a statement saying: “Our staff did not have a physical altercation with the guest and were unable to prevent his jumping from the stateroom balcony”.
He said Albaz didn’t jump and ruled out suicide in the incident.
“We heard there was a domestic problem”, a third passenger said.
“More importantly than that is the anti-gay remarks that were made against these two gentlemen”. “Why wasn’t a life ring given to him”, asked Winkleman.
The Broward County sheriff’s office would not confirm or deny the attorney’s allegations, but is conducting an investigation.
Including the recent contract, Royal Caribbean’s projected capital expenditures have reached $1.6bn in 2015, $2.4bn in 2016, $0.5bn in 2017, $2.5bn in 2018 and $1.4bn in 2019.
