Man robbed 70-year-old man, pretended to help

The first robbery occurred Saturday morning at the Marin Ace Hardware at 180 Merrydale Road, where a store employee pursued suspected tool thieves outside to a parking lot until they drove away.

Mathios said the suspect then asked him how many security guards were on the property and questioned him regarding the operation of the CCTV cameras on site.

Talford, who investigators say was charged with armed robbery in a similar case in December, was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Detention Center. They put “quite a bit” of money into a backpack, the clerk said.
