Man Shot, Killed After Striking RCMP Officer with Vehicle

A man is dead and woman is suffering from serious injuries after an officer involved shooting early Saturday morning in Thompson, Manitoba.

RCMP was called to the area of 152nd and 66A Avenues around midnight after residents reported hearing gunfire.

Police found two men in a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

One man was unresponsive and died despite the efforts of paramedics, and the other is in hospital being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the shooting was targeted.

RCMP say they won’t be releasing any more details since the investigation is now being handled by the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.

66A Avenue was closed between 150th and 152nd streets and would likely stay that way into the evening, she said.
