Man United: Defender to return to Manchester
PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno has admitted he is praying for Manchester United’s Luke Shaw after he made the tackle that caused the full-back to suffer a double fracture of his leg on Tuesday.
Former Manchester United physio Matt Radcliffe has claimed that Luke Shaw’s long-term career is unlikely to be hampered after he broke his leg in two places during a Champions League game in midweek. Something I will never forget!
But United manager Louis Van Gaal says Shaw will be okay to fly back to England and could even land on Saturday.
With Shaw out for the foreseeable future, van Gaal also has a tough decision to make over who will play at left-back. “He sounds very strong which is incredible to me, a big surprise, but a good signal. Obviously he can fulfil that role and score goals, but it would be a good combination if Martial was up front and Rooney just off him“.
However, Van Gaal is hopeful the team has cover in the left-back position and will be able to cope without him. “Maybe tomorrow. He will have a long period of rehabilitation and he has a long way to go”.
Cocu also defended his player, saying he had no intention of injuring the Manchester United man. Moreno issued an apology the day after the game.
Luke Shaw has taken to social media to pay tribute to the doctors and nurses who looked after following his operation on his broken leg this week.
.
Shaw will remain in Eindhoven until United’s medical staff are happy for him to come home.
“Memphis Depay and Shaw were a very good combination, and now you have to build up a new combination”, he continued.
“It has affected him (Moreno), it has affected the others and it has affected me”.
Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been passed fit to face Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward visited Shaw the morning after the match and the player’s parents are understood to be with him now. I saw his pain and then I knew that something wrong was happening and I felt bad, straightaway. “Now he has had his treatment, I think he can start“. Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo are the main contenders.
