Man United express condolences to Neville brothers following father’s death
Mr Neville, 65, reportedly collapsed in Australia, where he was travelling with his daughter Tracey, the England netball head coach.
New Zealand and Jamaica have made early statements but been overshadowed by Tracey Neville and her England side’s win under the most hard of circumstances at the Netball World Cup.
“Bury FC will pay tribute to Neville in due course and we ask everyone to allow the Neville family the time to grieve privately at this exceptionally sad time”.
Neville Neville, the father of former footballers Gary and Phil and England netball coach Tracey, has died in Australia, England Netball has announced.
And, Gary, who was expected to be covering Liverpool’s opener with Stoke on Sunday, not to mention his usual Monday Night Football slot with Jamie Carragher, is going to be in absentia for the first weekend of the league.
Neville Neville, the father of former Manchester United and England stars Gary and Phil Neville, has died today in Sydney.
“Rest in Peace big Nev”.
It’s understood that Mr Neville, who was his sons’ agent, was at the JD Stadium on Saturday as Bury beat Preston North End 3-2 in a pre-season friendly before flying out to Australia ahead of the Netball World Cup.
The website of Forever Bury, a fans’ group that sprang up out of those desperate times, says: “Neville tirelessly organised supporters’ groups, gave media interviews, worked closely with the administrators and finally arranged a deal which would ultimately save the Shakers from extinction. My prayers are with all his family”.
And a subsequent statement from England Netball revealed that he had passed away at a hospital in Sydney.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to both [them] and their families”.
