Man United: Mourinho believes United are still learning
Paul Pogba scored his first goal for United and looked a class apart in midfield, where he was paired with Ander Herrera, who endured a hard season under Louis van Gaal but impressed Mourinho.
Paul Pogba may have had his best game since returning to Manchester United as they thrashed Leicester City 4-1, but Jose Mourinho still expects more from the Frenchman.
A bright start by Leicester was stopped in its tracks by Smalling’s back-post header from Daley Blind’s corner in the 22nd minute.
JUAN Mata admits Manchester United needed the show of strength against reigning champions Leicester City to get back on track.
“They have very talented players that are able to define a match in an individual action”.
It finally happened for the Premier League game against the Foxes at the weekend with many saying that it could be the end for him at the club, but stand-in captain Smalling has no doubt that the striker’s quality will shine through once again.
Neville went on to praise Pogba’s best display since he returned to United in a world record £89m move from Juventus last month.
“Today we had intensity, movement and dynamism”, Mourinho said.
Rooney has been heavily criticised for his recent performances and Mourinho shuffled his pack, and it worked.
“It’s obviously been down in training but I think we try to focus on our training sessions and try and improve each day, but it is hard when you’re not winning games”.
“Obviously, in the second half it was going to be more hard and Claudio (Ranieri) did very well with his changes”.
“Some guys adapt more quickly but I think what is more hard for them is the fact myself and Mr Van Gaal, we think football in a different way”.
“We switched off”, Ranieri said. It is a pity because the first 20 minutes was good but now it is important to clean our minds because now we arrive in the Champions League.
“We have lost six points in the Premier League”.
“We want to carry on like this”, Pogba said.
“I can’t pick out individuals because the whole team shone”.
“He is still a big player for me, for United and for his country”.
