Man United ready to smash British transfer record to sign James Rodriguez
On Friday, Goal.com reported that the Red Devils could be looking to bolster their squad with a big-money move for Real Madrid star, James Rodriguez.
According to The Sun, the Colombian’s lack of starts this season means his time with the Spanish giants could be coming to an end, with United prepared to profit from his perceived frustrations.
Zinedine Zidane’s arrival could give him a route back into the first team, but there are still doubts over whether he will see his long term future at the club.
After being a key part to Colombia’s FIFA World Cup run, James Rodriguez was heavily linked from a move away from As Monaco. The player ended up signing for Real Madrid after the appointment of Louis van Gaal as manager of Manchester United. United would have to offer around 100 million to have any possibilities of success.
Manchester Untied are said to be interested in acquiring his services, so is Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
The United goalkeeper was on the brink of moving to Real in the summer window, but the two clubs were unable to finalize paperwork before the window shut. He is an absolutely decent man. Now he has a goal, he wants to play in the Champions League playoffs [against Manchester City] for this team. So, everything does point towards De Gea staying at the moment.
They emerged from the meeting so confident of winning their appeal, they decided not to rush through signings during this January window, which is excluded from the ban, and wait until the summer to make a move for De Gea.
“That was in the period before the transfer period, but now I am seeing David De Gea who is enjoying being here at Manchester United and playing good games”.
