Man United’s Marcus Rashford returns to school the day after Arsenal brace
Louis van Gaal hailed the “unbelievable” effect Marcus Rashford has had on Manchester United after the striker scored twice in their 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Manchester United’s Dutch manager is known to be undemonstrative, but this did not stop him from engaging in some play-acting.
But the 18-year-old striker introduced himself to the world with a brace in the Europa League before following it up with another impressive double on his Premier League debut to put a huge dent in title-chasing Arsenal’s season.
The Gunners squandered the opportunity to capitalise on a weakened Red Devils side at Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal’s weakened line-up secured a 3-2 victory.
This Arsenal team just doesn’t have “it” – and I’ll stand on my head if they prove me wrong and go and win this league.
Thanks to their loss to Manchester United, Arsenal fell three points behind arch-rivals Tottenham and five points behind league leaders Leicester City.
“But if Leicester or Tottenham win the league after he said they didn’t need any players then I don’t see how he can keep his job”.
“But he needs to keep calm because I think he has a bright future coming up ahead of him – he needs to keep playing his football”.
“The second half I changed the shape a little bit because I wanted to defend the result”.
The 34-year-old England worldwide has remained a key member of the team despite the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin last summer.
“Obviously Marcus is going to get the headlines but I thought Guilly was terrific at right-back and especially after getting a yellow card against somebody like Sanchez.”
“Do the things what we are asking and I have always said it is not a matter of age it is a matter of quality and he shows it”. And the club’s main commercial backer, kit maker Puma, is relaxed about Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League since 2004 or challenge for a first Champions League title since reaching the 2006 final.
‘But no matter how cool you are, it’s got to be a odd feeling to go from man of the match against Arsenal – to back to school on a Monday morning’.
