Man Utd to keep James Wilson, says Wolves boss Kenny Jackett
The Wolverhampton Wanderers were the team most strongly linked with a move for Wilson, but Wolves boss Kenny Jackett indicated that James Wilson will now be needed at Old Trafford.
However, now it seems like Louis van Gaal doesn’t want to let him leave on loan.
A whole host of Championship clubs have been chasing Wilson’s signature on loan, a group which includes Derby County, Cardiff City and Wolves. The Wolves manager also admitted being interested in signing the striker in the past and is open to strengthening his forward line during the ongoing loan window.
So far this season Jackett has seemed undecided as to who out of Martinez and long-serving Carl Ikeme is best equipped to start for the club in between the sticks, however he hinted that the former is likely to be his number one for the season.
Henry has started all six of Wolves’ games in the Championship this season and only failed to appear in one of their 38 league games in the last campaign.
“You are always looking to strengthen, you’re always aware of centre forwards if we did get an injury at the moment. I wouldn’t hesitate to give them an opportunity if I thought it was necessary”, Jackett explained. “They’re keeping him there for the time being”, he said.
“Both Bright and Rajiv van La Parra have looked very good”, said Jackett.
The winger continued, “I didn’t come particularly close to leaving”.
