Man With Dead Wife in Driveway Remains Hospitalized After Stand-off
A 50-year-old man who barricaded himself in his New Jersey home for hours, threatening to kill police, after his wife was found stabbed to death in their driveway, has been charged with murder in her death, authorities said Wednesday.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to a report of domestic violence on Evergreen Road in Plumsted just after 10 a.m. Tuesday, finding evidence of an altercation and a barricaded suspect in the home.
Officers found the body of 48-year-old Susan Haskoor in the driveway. The residence was immediately secured, and resources from Ocean County Northern Regional SWAT Team, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Plumsted Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and the New Jersey State Police were called, and a perimeter was established to contain the suspect. At approximately 2:30 p.m. a robot equipped with a camera was sent into the home and found the male occupant in the garage area of the home unresponsive.
Arthur Haskoor remained in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, about 24 hours after a camera-equipped robot entered his home and found him unconscious. Prosecutors said he is being treated for self-inflicted injuries, but further details were not disclosed.
