Manafort Jury Reaches Verdict on 8 Counts But Not 10 Others

The trial did not resolve the central question behind Mueller’s investigation – whether Trump associates co-ordinated with Russian Federation to influence the election.
He was found guilty of eight out of 18 charges relating to financial crime.

Sitting Presidents are not indicted, but Mr. Trump could be charged once he leaves office, according to several legal scholars. Judge Ellis reportedly informed the jury they could reach a partial verdict, which is not unusual.
Giuliani responded to a text message asking whether Trump would consider a pardon for Manafort on Wednesday morning. There is no reason that the same principle should not also apply to their live utterance.
Sen. Ron Wyden of OR, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, alluded to possible impeachment over such a move.
They did not know the details of the agreement. That fact, and the public evidence about their conduct, signals that they may be facing Mr. Mueller’s scrutiny.
UPDATE: Fox News’ Chief White House correspondent is reporting that Cohen’s plea includes 3 to 5 years in prison. The search sought bank records, communications with Trump’s campaign and information on a $130,000 payment to Daniels and a $150,000 one to McDougal. Prosecutors have until August 29 to decide whether they want to retry the remaining counts with a new jury.
Manafort’s wife Kathleen expressed no emotion and stared ahead.

Manafort, 69, has been in jail since June after his bail was revoked following new charges of witness tampering against him.
The probe also led to a referral from Mueller about Cohen to federal prosecutors in NY, who began their own probe of the attorney.
