Manchester City and Bayern Munich target Kevin De Bruyne should stay at
Manchester City are reportedly preparing to bid around £40 million for former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who was superb last season for Wolfsburg.
As it happens, despite perhaps making some at City a little unhappy with his comments, I wouldn’t have thought it’ll have much baring on what does happen as regards to De Bruyne coming to the club or not this summer anyway.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also understood to be tracking the 24-year-old attacking midfielder.
De Bruyne scored a fine goal in Wolfsburg’s 1-1 draw at Ajax on Friday night and Hecking later admitted to Sky Sports: “Kevin is a player the world wants”.
City confirmed the signing of Raheem Sterling from Liverpool on Tuesday, with the England global joining Manuel Pellegrini’s men in a deal worth £49m.
De Bruyne’s profile soared after he netted 15 goals and provided 25 assists in all competitions this past season for the Bundesliga runners-up.
“He’s supposed to be a prospect for us in Manchester”, Dzeko wrote.
‘A lot of players who excelled in other leagues have had problems here – take Angel Di Maria.
De Bruyne failed to establish himself at Chelsea during his two years, and was eventually shipped out, once again showing, how hard it is to make a switch to the Premier League, despite being a star performer elsewhere.
“Maybe it would also help if he plays in the champions league with Wolfsburg this season and takes another step in his development there, coming to Manchester city might see him benched again”.
Despite all the speculation this summer, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told kicker that there had been no offers for De Bruyne yet.
