Manchester City lodge second bid for Alexis Sanchez
Arsenal will not accept a Deadline Day cash offer for Alexis Sanchez, according to Sky Sports.
The Chilean newspaper have been pushing Sanchez to Manchester City since December, and if it happens then the whole thing can start again, a renewed excitement that El Nino Maravilla will fire his club to glory.
According to ESPNFC, Manchester City will offer Raheem Sterling and cash to get Chilean worldwide Alexis Sanchez, who hasn’t looked very happy at the club in quite a while.
Sanchez is now on global duty with Chile, although City have sent out officials who will be on hand to perform any medical duties necessary should a deal for the former Barcelona star come to fruition.
However, sources close to the City hierarchy say that they remain confident of signing Alexis before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The move would be a coup for Arsenal given the current uncertainty over Alexis Sanchez.
And the Arsenal fan base were left puzzled and greatly optimistic by the Chilean’s social media activity.
Premier League rivals Watford have bolstered their ranks, signing goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis on loan from Udinese and defender Marvin Zeegelaar on a four-year deal from Sporting CP.
Or perhaps not. As the day’s news broke, it became increasingly clear in my head that selling Sanchez for £60 million and replacing him with Lemar, even for the eye-watering £92 million fee reported, is a wise move.
Sergio Aguero is reportedly considering pushing to leave Manchester City in the January transfer window following speculation linking him as a top target for Arsenal.
But the renewed contact between the two clubs has been ignited after Sanchez made it clear to Arsenal that he wants to leave the club in this window having previously indicated he was happy to see-out the final year of his contract.
This underlines how much City want Sanchez.
There could still be further movement as both Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez have also been linked with other clubs. Funnily, Sanchez is actually valued at nearly half the amount by the Arsenal hierarchy, and Wenger may finally loosen the purse strings to prove why he deserves to stay on as Gunners boss.
