Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero gets four-match ban for violent conduct
Diego Costa is the joint top scorer in the Premier League.
Manchester City had Sergio Aguero sent off for a wild lunge on David Luiz and Fernandinho was shown a straight red card for retaliating to the slap by Fabregas by grabbing him by the throat and pushing him over advertising hoadings.
The loss leaves City in fourth place four points off leaders Chelsea.
Aguero was considered “a recidivist” after he blew an elbow in Winston Reid’s (West Ham) face.
“A lot of changes to the team maybe disrupts that a little bit, but at the same time we’ve seen the quality we have”, he added.
Manchester City now sit in fourth place on the Premier League table four points behind the leaders Chelsea.
City dominated the first hour but broke through only when Gary Cahill sliced a Jesus Navas cross into his own net.
The Londoners’ 3rd came from a counterattack, as Eden Hazard outpaced Aleksandar Kolarov and sealed the 3-1 victory in the 90th minute.
City dropped to fourth place after losing at home to Chelsea, but Guardiola insisted he is enjoying his Premier League adventure.
He said: “City are a good team”.
“I know everyone says he’s an angry guy, but I’m seeing that composure now”.
City took the lead after a sustained spell of pressure and might have been awarded as many as three penalties.
Aguero’s teammate Fernandinho was also sent off in the game for being a part of the mass brawl that took place following the Argentine’s challenge on Luiz.
“It is a pity it finished like this”. “I don’t like that”.
Aguero now faces a four-match suspension, but Guardiola claimed his airborne foul on Luiz had not been intentional.
“Aguero is an unbelievable player, he scores a lot, he wins a lot”, Luiz told the Daily Mail. “Not for the referee”. I said the players, “Guys we have to start to play better, like in the beginning of the season. I am so happy to give minutes to people who deserve to play and who did not play in the last games”.
“You have to remember who we were playing, and that we created more chances than we did in our last two games against Burnley and Crystal Palace, when we won”.
