Manchester Unietd goalkeeper Victor Valdes admits he is hard to work with
Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes admits he is a “very hard person to live with” yet claims former manager Pep Guardiola had the man-management skills to match him.
Valdes reviewed some of the moments and said he regrets his move from the Spanish club.
With De Gea’s future at Old Trafford uncertain, it looked as though Valdes might have had the chance to be the club’s number one for the 2015-16 season but instead in July, Van Gaal revealed he wanted to part ways with him due to his attitude.
And looking back on his career, Valdes reflects on his time at Barcelona and particularly working under Pep Guardiola. I am a hard person to deal with. My wife deserves the biggest of trophies’. “I was very lucky to have so many seasons with [Guardiola]”.
However, that transfer has not materialised – and Valdes’ personal circumstances have not improved – meaning he could yet depart Old Trafford before the close of the summer transfer window.
“The 33-year-old responded to the Dutchman by posting a picture of the Under-21 games he played in last term, a photo of him sitting with his teammates and the words “…?
‘That’s the most challenging thing for a coach, to adapt their own pride to be able to speak to everyone with their different egos’.
He added: ‘I recriminate myself when I keep myself in the margins and let people down, especially those who expect better from me.
According to Valdes, the treatment he was receiving at Barcelona compiled with the frailties in his character, paved the way for his exit from the club.
“I have had many days where I don’t want to be here, I play because they convinced me to at a young age, I have accepted this path with discipline, but I have gone through lots of tough times”.
The situation in fact deteriorated, according to the Spanish global, and eventually he just drifted away from the scene and then eventually had to leave after suffering from a serious injury.
“If I was born again, I wouldn’t be a football goalkeeper”, said Valdés.
