Manchester United back José Mourinho despite manager’s transfer frustrations
Jose Mourinho believes Alexis Sanchez’s on-pitch frustrations in Manchester United’s 4-1 friendly defeat to Liverpool was understandable given the quality of the players around him.
At the nadir of Manchester United’s 2017-18 campaign, after exiting the Champions League to Sevilla, Jose Mourinho spoke more openly about the club’s standing on the field of play than at any time since becoming its manager.
It did not just end there as he went on to undermine and sideline the young and budding players at Manchester United.
United’s hierarchy are sympathetic to the manager’s unease and there remains optimism that Mourinho could still make a fourth signing, at least. “I don’t know, it could be”, Shaqiri said.
“I am confident I will get one, but I think two I am not going to get – which is not a drama. The fans demanded a new goalkeeper and I think Jurgen has brought him in and that’s another thing that other people stop talking about”. “I’m not a big fan of one player starting the season with one club and then a couple of weeks later the window is open, he moves to another club and he plays against his former club – I really don’t like that”. “Which is to be back a little bit earlier to try to help the team because, for the beginning of the season, we are going to be in trouble”.
“If it’s possible.it’s possible, if it’s not it’s not”.
“Matic arrived from the World Cup, holiday, direct to surgery because something happened in the World Cup”, Mourinho revealed.
Numerous players, including Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Jesse Lingard, remain away from the club.
“This is not our team this is not our squad”.
“We are trying to play these matches as best we can and to avoid ugly defeats but this one gave me nothing at all”.
“This is not our squad”. My first impression tells me it won’t be hard for me here – it’s a great squad formed by great players and brilliant professionals.
He said: “This is not even 30% of my squad”. So don’t look to this. For him, it was a very good moment in his career, having already had a real experience at Bayern, at Stoke, at Inter.
While Liverpool have bought well, there will still be times when rotation requires one of the academy players to step up and be counted.
