Manchester United consider January move to sign Porto’s Bruno Martins Indi
Martins Indi, 23, joined Porto only in the summer of 2014 following an impressive World Cup with the Netherlands where Louis van Gaal was his manager.
Manchester United are being linked with a January move for Porto and Netherlands defender Bruno Martins Indi.
Martins Indi began his career at Feyenoord in 2005 at the age of 13 before making his senior debut for the club in 2010.
As a result, United will swoop for Martins Indi when the transfer window reopens in January, reports The Mirror.
Like Rojo, the Dutch worldwide is also capable of featuring in the heart of the defence as well as on the left side – where he impressed during the recent Champions League victory over Chelsea (via MEN).
Van Gaal said: “That’s a good thing, because I can help you with that”.
Monaco are understood to have enquired over the 25-year-old as part of the deal which took Anthony Martial to Old Trafford on deadline day, but Van Gaal refused, preferring not to leave his squad unbalanced.
Martins Indi replied: “Really?” before Van Gaal beamed: “I love you already, Bruno”.
Rojo looked rotund on his return to Manchester in July, having played all six of Argentina’s Copa America matches, and only regained his place in the United side when Luke Shaw broke his leg at PSV Eindhoven.
Many fans wanted to see a centre back brought in, but United chose not to address that particular area of concern, with Van Gaal sticking with the likes of Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
