Manchester United look to terminate contract of Spanish goalkeeper
It appears he could be offered a chance to remain in the Premier League as ESPN claim that Chelsea and Liverpool are both considering a surprise move for the Spanish worldwide.
Manchester United are ready to release Victor Valdes – on condition he does not join Liverpool. The 22-year-old midfielder hasn’t played for United since he picked up an injury during the opening game of last season.
According to reports in the British media, Valdes has been told that he can only attend United’s Carrington training facility when the first team are not there.
He was named in United’s 25-man Premier League squad after a move to Turkish side Besiktas fell through. However, it remains unlikely that Van Gaal would sell a player of Valdes’s caliber to a direct rival, especially considering that the Spaniard still has a few quality left in him.
Victor Valdes arrived at Manchester United with the hope of furthering his illustrious career at a great club, but unfortunately it never quite worked out.
The rivalry between the two clubs mean several players have had moves blocked down the years, including Gabriel Heinze, who tried to force through a move to Anfield in 2007. However, Valdes was dealt another snub at the club after being omitted from the club’s official team photograph, Daily Star reports. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is nowhere to be seen on the snap.
It was thought that Valdes may be sold in the most recent transfer window after Sergio Romero was preferred ahead of him after David De Gea was dropped at, amid interest from Real Madrid.
