Manning could start for Broncos this week
Although the frustration on Osweiler’s performance has been high as of late, recent reports claimed that he will still be the starting quarterback against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was replaced by Osweiler after throwing four interceptions and posting a career-worst 0.0 passer rating on the same day he broke Brett Favre’s National Football League record for most career passing yards.
On the previous four Mondays, Kubiak declared Osweiler as the starter for that week, but given at least three chances to do so Monday for the Steelers game, Kubiak declined. That is, if you remember, Keith Butler’s magic number – holding offenses to under 18.
Former NFL running back LaDainian Tomlinson is with Team Manning. He is not expected to play this weekend-Brock Osweiler is still the starter, but probably not for long.
The Broncos would just be waiting for the moments Manning had this season, when he showed flashes of the legend and gave his legion of supporters something to gloat about, a reason to claim he’s not washed up.
Critics of Osweiler pointed out that Manning managed to snag wins for the Denver Broncos despite the lack of protection and support from his teammates at times. Their success has stemmed from the NFL’s best defense, led by DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, and Chris Harris. “So, let me see where we’re at”.
Osweiler completed a career-best 35 of 51 passes for 308 yards, his first 300-yard game, but he was sacked five times by Khalil Mack and several receivers dropped on-target passes.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will make his first significant step toward potentially returning to the starting lineup Wednesday, when he is scheduled to practice for the first time in more than a month. “And when we’re on the sideline, you’ve got Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, all those guys coming up trying to build us up, they’re not showing any animosity toward us because offensively we didn’t play well”. But things are progressing quickly: Manning was cleared to resume throwing drills last week, and returned to the sideline on Sunday for the first time since the injury, earpiece in so he could get back up to speed on the playcalling.
“We know he likes to throw the quick game”, shared Ben Heeney of Osweiler, according the Denver Post.
Has it ever been easier to pick the AFC Defensive Player of the Week?
Still, Kubiak said Monday he’s not concerned about the locker room splintering.
Kubiak’s whole scheme is based off running the ball; the reason why the play-action pass and bootleg are so successful is because the defense thinks you’re running the football.
“We’re a team, we’re brothers, ” linebacker Brandon Marshall said.
Broncos need every support they can get right now.
