Manny Pacquiao works to save woman’s life
Arum noted that Pacquiao is not an active fighter at the moment and he is very unprofessional when dealing with his injury.
Veteran promoter Bob Arum slammed the injured Manny Pacquiao for missing a planned rehab visit to his doctor and says he has no idea when the boxing icon might return to the ring.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed surgery on Pacquiao’s right shoulder to fix a torn right rotator cuff suffered during his unanimous decision defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 7th, five days after the most lucrative bout of all-time had concluded.
Pacquiao feels that he’s ahead of schedule for his shoulder rehab.
“We’re hoping to help save a Mary Jane’s life, I think Mary Jane is a victim of human-trafficking”, Pacquiao said after visiting the single mother of two young children in the Wirogunan prison on the main island of Java on July 10. He’s like a father to me.
“[Manny Pacquiao] promised me he was leaving for the U.S. this weekend [July 18] which he’s not”, Arum said in the article referring to the Filipino. Pacquiao isn’t saying where he learned how to rehab a surgically repaired right rotator cuff injury, but he seems to feel that he knows what he’s doing. “I believe he’s just voicing his concern and I appreciate it. I don’t take it negatively”, Pacquiao said via supersport.com.
Meanwhile, Floyd’s uncle, Jeff Mayweather said that Paquiao’s decision to reveal the injury just after the fight won’t net him a rematch with the undefeated American boxer anymore.
“When you’ve got an operation like that you’ve got to get into rehab”. When you have a torn rotator cuff, you can’t even rotate your shoulder, you can’t do nothing, ” said Jeff.
But Arum insisted that the 36-year-old’s first priority should have been to be back in Los Angeles for an appointment with his surgeon to decide on his rehabilitation program.
Rappler notes that the reason Pacquiao missed his scheduled meeting his doctor is that he decided to visit Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipino who is facing death sentence in Indonesia.
Arum added that he was told by Pacquiao’s business manager, Michael Koncz, that Pacquiao was going to the United States at the end of the month to have his shoulder checked.
