Manziel only bright spot as Browns stomped by Seahawks

Sunday’s Cleveland Browns vs Seattle Seahawks game on the Fox Sports TV channel and Fox Sports Go live streaming has all the makings of a blowout.

Coach Mike Pettine has lost 16 of his last 19 games and Manziel, who is on his second offensive coordinator in two years, may be replaced if the Browns decide to take a quarterback in the NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns, to the surprise of no one, had another day to forget against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

According to the NFL, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson made league history on Sunday, by throwing three touchdown passes and no interceptions for the fifth straight game.

“I remember, playing in the SEC, we got some really hostile, good environments”, he said. “Focused on being the best I can and serve my team the best that I can”.

Wilson threw two touchdown passes to Baldwin and another to WR Tyler Lockett, giving Seattle its fifth consecutive victory and seventh in eight games after starting 2-4 and 4-5, marked by a series of blown leads in the fourth quarter.

Only Doug Baldwin, whose connection with Wilson is bordering on the supernatural, acknowledged even the semblance of questions within the locker room.

But it has been Wilson’s right arm that has barraged defenses with the most devastation. Rice had 10 TD catches from a combo of Joe Montana and Steve Young during the 1987 season.

Last season, Baldwin saw his highest volume of targets in his four-year career to that point, and he produced accordingly, hauling in a career-high 66 receptions for a career-high 825 yards.

Johnny Manziel started with a 15-play touchdown drive, but he and the rest of the Browns faded from there.

Manziel completed 19 of 32 passes for 161 yards with one touchdown and an interception.

“I’ve only been here a month, but I found out early in the week that we had never won here and I think guys were hungry”, Weeden said.

Manziel mostly silenced the 12th Man on Cleveland’s first drive, leading the Browns on a 15-play march capped by a 7-yard TD to Gary Barnidge on a 7-yard TD strike. That’s almost 40 more than the Seahawks have averaged per game this season (144.8), which entering the game ranked second behind only the Buffalo Bills’ 148.8. He was able to avoid the Seahawks’ pass rush on a few occasions and would have put up better numbers had it not been for some dropped passes – the most egregious of which came on a third-down throw that bounced off the hands of wide-open WR Taylor Gabriel late in the first half. The former second-round pick by the Seahawks was traded away to Dallas at the end of training camp but re-signed this week. Seattle rushed for 182 yards, its 25th straight game with 100 yards rushing as a team….

Carroll was excited about Lane, Burley and McCray following the game, noting how well each performed in extensive duty and recognizing the fact that Burley recorded both a sack and an interception. “He recognized the opportunity”. That ties Daryl Turner from 1985 for the Seahawks’ record for a season. “You’ve got to turn two of those into touchdowns, at least”, Manziel said. “We tried to get him down a couple of times”, Cleveland defensive lineman Xavier Cooper said. New England could clinch home field throughout the playoffs with one more win, either next week at the New York Jets or the final weekend at Miami.
