Manziel’s ex-girlfriend tells police Browns quarterback hit her
Cabot continued on Twitter by revealing that the Forth Worth police report explains that Colleen Crowley, Manziel’s girlfriend, told officers that her boyfriend struck her several times and seemed to be on drugs at the time of the incident.
According to the report, parts of which were blacked out, Manziel and his ex-girlfriend left the hotel after he struck her. Manziel drove them to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Fort Worth.
Crowley told police that she later ran to a neighbor’s place for help in an attempt to get away from Manziel, who fled the scene on foot. She did, however, reportedly tell them that she was concerned about Manziel’s welfare-she suggested he may have been under the influence of drugs during their altercation-and police searched the area for him and contacted his family before eventually locating him.
The Browns released a statement after the incident saying they were troubled by Manziel’s “continual involvement in incidents”.
A Cleveland Browns spokesman told Cleveland.com on Thursday that “we’re aware of the report and have nothing to add to our previous statement at this time”.
Fort Worth police did not file charges because they determined the incident occurred in Dallas, and Dallas police announced Thursday night they will not file charges against Manziel, either, deeming the case “closed”.
Even so, Manziel’s National Football League future is increasingly in doubt after yet another off-field incident involving the former Heisman Trophy victor from Texas A&M and the second in less than a year resulting from claims of domestic abuse by Crowley. The report says “she was somewhat vague on the details of the assault”.
The woman, identified as 23-year-old Colleen Crowley, told police the player for the National Football League team had become aggressive with her at the hotel.
TMZ Sports reported that it reached Manziel by phone Thursday, and that he denied hitting Crowley, telling the website, “It didn’t happen”. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. She told police that Manziel was violent, banging her head into the car’s window.
“He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the vehicle and got back in himself”, she told police, according to the website.
Johnny Manziel won’t be charged by police after an incident with his ex-girlfriend.
“We’re trying to get our son better”, Manziel’s father, Paul Manziel said in an interview.
Cleveland is reportedly expected to release Manziel later this offseason.
Crowley later tweeted that “J & I are good” and thanked those who “stopped to check on us and call the police”.
“We would never comment on our conversations with a player”, Smith said.
