Marc Gasol sidelined by foot fracture
As for who will fill the void for Gasol, Memphis has a few big men on the roster already, namely Ryan Hollins and JayMichael Green.
Grizzlies center Marc Gasol is out indefinitely with a broken bone in his right foot after an MRI exam found the fracture earlier Tuesday.
In a statement the Grizzlies said, “This morning at Campbell Clinic, Marc underwent a thorough evaluation by team physicians”. “Marc will be out indefinitely and further update will be provided after the All-Star Break”. Gasol left at the end of the first quarter with a right foot injury and didn’t return.
Gasol was questionable before the game against Portland yesterday with foot soreness, but at this time I haven’t heard from the Grizzlies whether it’s the same foot that was sore before last night’s game or not. “It’s bad for our team”. They care about each other. “We’re going to fight, scratch and claw”. I’m going to push through it and give whatever I have to my team. They’ve dealt with injuries to star point guard Mike Conley and have relied a ton on Tony Allen over recent years to guard the opposing team’s best player. “That’s how I’ve always been, and that’s how it’s going to be”.
With a 30-22 record, the Grizzlies sit in 5th place in the conference, 4.5 games ahead of the 26-27 Trail Blazers who now own the 9th spot.
