Mariah Carey receives Walk of Fame star, will appear on ‘Empire’

Carey was seen with her 4-year-old twins with ex Nick Cannon wearing a long, black sequined gown.

Carey was selected in 2007 to receive a star and “just recently set the date”, Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said Friday.

Mariah Carey is charting course for a new “Empire” with a guest appearance on the popular Fox television series, the show’s creator announced Wednesday.

“I stopped everything I was doing to make sure that I was here for you, because you’ve always been there for me, Mariah, before Lee Daniels was Lee Daniels”.

Mariah told the fans who had gathered for the ceremony they were “melting my heart”.

During his speech Daniels revealed Carey will be guest-starring on his hit show, Empire, which is about a hip-hop dynasty. She was joined by chairman and CEO of Epic Records, L.A. Reid, president of programming for BET, Stephen Hill, Brett Ratner and director Lee Daniels.

A smiling Mariah then got her chance to address the crowd, she jokingly said “I better get through with this before the kids want to come up and talk again!”

Mariah was honored on Wednesday, August 5 – and while her fans were psyched for her, her cute kids were not impressed with mom’s big accomplishment!

“They just shut down Hollywood Boulevard because you all came out today!” Some of the confirmed artists to appear on the show include Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Ne-Yo, Kelly Rowland and Ludacris.

Empire Season 2 premieres on September 23 on Fox. “Repeatedly”, Daniels commented. “I’m very excited to see where she goes on Empire”.
