Mark Hamill reveals further information about Luke Skywalker in Star Wars

Who is your favorite character in the Star Wars universe. J.J. Abrams’ film will hit United Kingdom cinema screens on Thursday, December 17 followed by theatres in the U.S. on Friday, December 18. [Abrams] yesterday and I was just like ‘How are people going to react to this movie?’ But there’s going to be a reaction for sure.

“I’m going to try to see it as many times as possible with different audiences just to gauge everyone’s opinions of it”.

Alongside the returning trio of Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, the film’s cast includes Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Adam Driver and Andy Serkis. The actor recently posted a tweet in which he reveals Luke Skywalker will feature in Episode VIII of the series.

I was about 12 when The Phantom Menace opened, pretty much the demographic Lucas was going for with that one, so of course I liked that movie.

The director said that he’s looking to the original trilogy for the lightsaber battles’ inspiration – not necessarily as slow and plodding as they were there, but in how they “felt more powerful because they were not as slick”.

“Don’t carry a lightsaber, don’t squint your eyes or do the handsome face”.
