Mark Hughes confirms Stoke City interest in Saido Berahino
Said Berahino has endured a tumultuous period at West Brom in recent times and could be on his way out of the club after Stoke reportedly make a formal bid.
Crystal Palace have bid £20million for Saido Berahino but West Brom are set to reject it, according to a deal.
After the summer recruitment past year of striker Salomon Rondon, Berahino was left of the sidelines for the most part, with Pulis’ penchant for a lone striker ahead of a midfield five.
The Baggies striker’s future has been the subject of intense speculation over the past two seasons, with Berahino making it quite clear that he wants to leave The Hawthorns on occasions. Berahino played both games versus Paris Saint-Germain and Kidderminster Harriers over the past week.
Berahino, who only has one year left on his deal with the Baggies, made no secret of his frustration last summer after his move to Tottenham was blocked.
But the 22-year-old is leaning towards a move to the Britannia Stadium as Hughes formalises his long-standing interest.
Newcastle’s club-record £21million bid was rebuffed in the winter window but Pulis’ old club Stoke have now identified the former England Under-21 worldwide as one of their prime targets as they seek attacking reinforcements.
“We’ve put some bids in and as it stands those haven’t been accepted yet”, Hughes told Sky Sports News HQ.
