Marshmallow update starts hitting Moto G (3rd gen) units in Europe
Over the course of the past few weeks we’ve seen Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates arrive in the United States for owners of many popular smartphones.
Happy Friday! Good news for T-Mobile HTC One (M9) owners! Valentine’s Day is over but apparently Verizon doesn’t mind giving us all a late gift.
While HTC has rumored to be working on releasing a new HTC One M10 somewhere in April this year, those who own last year’s flagship will beginning from next week be able to upgrade the phone’s operating system from Android Lollipop to the latest Marshmallow OS. The news comes from the horse’s mouth via two tweets about the over-the-air update from HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now making its way out to more and more handsets and one of the latest devices to be given the update is the Moto G. Verizon is taking a different route though, and updating them both at the same time, right now.
On the other hand, LG has been rolling out Marshmallow updates to nearly every single carrier variant of the G4, outside of Verizon’s. No word yet on whether the update would go on or not. Meanwhile, Verizon HTC One M9 owners can go into Settings System Update Check for new System update, while T-Mobile One M9-ers need to go to Settings About Software updates Check now.
In December 2015, Motorola released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Moto X (2014) users. At the same time, Verizon like many others does a slow and staggered software release. Users in India, Brazil and Europe also got the update as well.
Unfortunately, it isn’t yet known how the European update differs or exactly what new changes it brings along. It packs big additions like Google Now on Tap, Doze, and revamped app permissions – plus small but welcome improvements like better volume controls.
