Martellus Bennett compares Jay Cutler to Jesus
You can now add “tough son of a buck” to the list. Others in the organization marveled at how he played through the pain – and flourished.
Upon the comparison, one Bears fan had a rather relevant question. That’s the type of performance that could perhaps make a few warm to him.
Disciple Bennett is happy to stand up for his quarterback.
Jesus isn’t the only person who comes to mind for Martellus Bennett when thinking about Jay Cutler. He was 5 for 8 for 41 yards to move to the field goal. And while Cutler wasn’t exactly Tom Brady-like, he wasn’t Jimmy Clausen-like, either. I don’t have a front row seat for the spectacle that is Jay Cutler.
Cutler hasn’t had the greatest 2015 season, of course, but Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett isn’t giving up on his quarterback. He compared him to Jesus.
In his defense, “Jesus was an excellent guy who did a lot of awesome stuff” is an accurate, albeit understated way to quickly sum up the principles of Christianity. Cutler could at least pull off this speech on a game-winning drive.
