‘Martian,’ ‘Revenant’ get awards boost with top Globes wins
Two star-led tales of frontier survival triumphed at the 73rd annual Golden Globes, where Alejandro Inarritu’s bloody 1820s thriller “The Revenant” swept three of the top honors, and Ridley Scott’s stranded astronaut tale “The Martian” answered with a pair of its own.
Pixar and Walt Disney Studio’s Inside Out won the award for Best Motion Picture in the Animated category.
Winslet, 40, who played the role of Joanna Hoffman, marketing executive for Apple in biopic Steve Jobs, walked away with the golden trophy in the supporting actress category. Clearly, star power is more important to the HFPA than talent.

In a victory for streaming services and Amazon, ”Mozart in the Jungle” won for best TV comedy.
After presenters announced actress Taraji P. Henson won best actress in a TV drama, she handed out cookies to the other people at her table.
Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement honoree Denzel Washington also fumbled his way through his speech, which generally serves as a poignant respite in an otherwise irreverent evening.
Oscar Isaac, a star of the box-office behemoth “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, won best actor in a miniseries for HBO’s “Show Me a Hero”.
Director Quentin Tarantino accepted an award for composer Ennio Morricone. Best limited series went to “Wolf Hall”.
The Golden Globes’ split between drama and comedy does always muddy the waters a little bit, so it’ll be interesting to see whether The Martian manages to steal anything from underneath The Revenant’s gaze at the BAFTAs on 14 February.
