Marvel Comics’ new Iron Man to be black female teen

In the pages of Invincible Iron Man, Riri wears a much bulker and less advanced version of the Iron Man suit.

The comic book maker said Civil War II will see Tony Stark replaced by Riri Williams.

Williams was created by Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis, who has worked on expanding Marvel’s cast of minority characters with Miles Morales, Jessica Jones and Maria Hill, as part of the relaunch of Invincible Iron Man, a flagship series in the more diverse Marvel NOW! era.

Tony Stark is stepping out of the Iron Man suit. According to him, he was highly influenced by the story of a young woman who could have easily ended her life owing to the amount of tragedy around her due to random street violence. “All I can do is state my case for the character, and maybe they’ll realize over time that that’s not the most progressive thinking”.

In a interview with Time, Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis explains how Starks met Williams.

Marvel is being coy as to what leads to Tony Stark giving it all up, but as Bendis said, “we’re in the middle of a very big Tony Stark storyline – actually three storylines converging”.

Marvel comics have unveiled the brand new Iron Man.

The Doctor Strange and Sorcerers Supreme could very well feature the magic-based group of characters such as Shaman, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Voodoo which have been appearing regularly in Doctor Strange and its “Last Days of Magic” arc.

It’s worth noting that this Iron Man design is also quite different from the armor that Riri has worn in the Marvel NOW! preview artwork.
