Marvel Television is getting into the comedy business.
ABC has put into development, a TV series based on the Marvel comic “Damage Control“, which was created by the late Dwayne McDuffie and Ernie Colón. As originally conceived, the characters worked at a firm called Damage Control that was tasked with quickly cleaning up and rebuilding New York City after numerous superhero battles.
Damage Control has been around in Marvel comics since 1989, appearing in four of its own limited series over the years.
ABC has ordered a script for a half-hour, single-camera comedy from the Avengers studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The series description details a few of the crew’s duties as returning a lost ray gun, rescheduling a wedding after its venue was vaporized, or tracking down a prized parrot that’s been turned to stone. He will executive produce along with David Miner, best known for Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as well as Marvel’s Jeph Loeb, in case you were anxious that the comic book aspect would get short shrift. Damage Control isn’t a team, but a construction service: one specialized in fix work and construction following huge, building-leveling clashes between the heroes and villains that populate the Marvel Universe.
ABC’s Damage Control is reportedly being developed by Ben Karlin, a former executive producer for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. And who would you cast in the series? Let us know your thoughts below.
