Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ Cast: ‘Hannibal’ Star Mads Mikkelsen As Dormammu?
Could it be Dormammu, an extraordinarily powerful other-dimensional being who plays heavily into Doctor unusual stories?
“Hannibal” star and all-around All-Star bad guy Mads Mikkelsen is being eyed by Marvel for a villain role in Marvel’s “Doctor unusual”, Variety reported. Plus, there’s plenty of evil involved in the Dark Side of the Force featured in the Star Wars universe; but is Mikkelsen playing to type again as the movie’s bad guy? We would guess Dormammu, who is arguably the most prominent Doctor unusual villain behind Baron Mordo.
Mikkelsen’s career does not appear to be in any danger following the disappointing cancellation of “Hannibal“.
What we do know is that, through performances in everything from Hannibal to Casino Royale, Mikkelsen has established himself as an actor who’s more than adept at playing villains.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige confirmed that Swinton and Ejiofor will be in the film during D23. Scott Derrickson is directing the comic book movie from a script by Jon Spaihts.
This isn’t the first time the studio has tried to snag Mikkelsen. There are well-known talents playing Stephen odd (Benedict Cumberbatch), his mentor (Tilda Swinton) and one of his chief rivals (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Doctor unusual was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko during the early 1960s. The Malekith role eventually went to Christopher Eccleston. Since we learned that the series had been put to rest by NBC, we’ve discovered that the Danish actor has lined up a juicy role in the anthology film STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE, in an unspecified but “important” role.
DOCTOR odd will hit theaters on November. 14, 2016.
