Marvel sets ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ for 2018
The relationship between Hope Van Dyne and Scott Lang was one of the more interesting avenues to Peyton Reed’s film and with a new look Ant-Man expected to turn up in Captain America: Civil War, the fact that Marvel are bringing the character of Van Dyne to the fore is a very good thing.
First and foremost, “Ant-Man” is getting a sequel.
He disclosed that there will be a slew of casting announcements in the next few months and that it would focus on “Thor 3: Ragnarok” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” as well as other future Marvel films.
“The announcement of Ant-Man and the Wasp follows the success of Ant-Man, which has earned $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally for a global total of $409.8M”, the website continues.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will open July 6, 2018.
The movie news outlet adds that the Civil War plot will pick up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off. From a narrative standpoint, that probably makes more sense, and it means audiences will get to spend more time with Chadwick Boseman‘s hero before he’s likely used in the battle against Thanos.
While Rudd and Lilly will return for Ant-Man and the Wasp, it’s unknown if director Peyton Reed will also return.
Until Ant-Man scuttles back onto the big screen, we have Captain America: Civil War and Doctor unusual, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, to look forward to.
This is Iron Man’s armor from the movie that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, Inhumans was the furthest out, slated for release in 2019.
