Maryland basketball’s Melo Trimble selected to All-Big Ten first team

The Big Ten Conference Tournament will be held from March 8 through March 12, 2017, from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. It will be the first time that the Big Ten Tournament will be played in D.C.

The awards are voted on by the conference’s coaches.

The Hoosiers ended their season on a high note with a win over Ohio State in a high-scoring contest. No. 13 seed Penn State – 4:30 p.m.

Michigan State (18-13, 10-8 Big Ten) enters the tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday against the victor of Wednesday’s matchup between No. 12 Nebraska and No. 13 Penn State.

While it was a long-shot that Amir Coffey would upend Miles Bridges as the Big Ten Freshman of they Year, he was given well-deserved accolades by being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

After junior Kyle Snyder sealed his individual championship at heavyweight, it became official: the Ohio State Buckeyes are the 2017 Big Ten wrestling champions. For the third year in a row, the Terrapins took home the title. In addition, they must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Bids on the line: Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland, Minnesota and Northwestern are locks to make the tournament.
