Mass Effect theme park attraction in the works
“Teaming with a world-wide gaming leader like EA will enable us to build an incredible user experiencefor Great America guests”, Raul Rehnborg, California’s Great America vice president and general manager, said in a statement. The use of motion based seating, 3D glasses coupled with high tech sound and other 4D special effects is said to give riders a “truly compelling and immersive” experience. It remains to see if the theme park will be opened before or after the Mass Effect 4 game will be released and if it will include elements from the new game. A live performer will curate the journey and appear to interact seamlessly with the next generation 3D visuals.
According to a post on their blog, BioWare is collaborating with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company to bring fans an interactive ride aboard Commander Shepard’s SSV Normandy. The ride will have guests traveling through space to a distant planet, facing off against formidable enemies, and ultimately saving the day.
It’s not clear yet if the ride will feature an adventure created by BioWare specifically for Great America that pulls from the Mass Effect trilogy or the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda. We’ve got a few time to kill before this ride is ready to visit in 2016! The exact opening date for the Mass Effect attraction is still to be announced. It will likely be something similar to the Star Wars rides at Disney’s theme parks.
The franchise is heading to the park in a new 4D adventure experience.
