Massive spider web appears in Texas
The eerie web, as what some people have described it, hangs on a series of trees aligned on the said route, but it’s not because of the works of Spider-Man.
He also recalled a similar case in 2007 when a giant web appeared at Lake Tawakoni State Park.
An enormous spider web was discovered in the neighborhood of Lakeside Park, spanning nearly the length of a football field and jutting 40 feet into the air. Scientists aren’t surely which spider species built the web, but it was likely one from the Tetragnathidae family, according to the report. Merchant said that the massive web structures are not entirely unprecedented, but are still rare.
A number of early commuters in a Dallas suburb have recently learned that frightening fact, having spotted the sheen of giant silk shawls draped over trees and shrubbery, and filled with hungry spiders. As per experts, one factor which comprised the right condition is the increased presence of midges & small insects which come from the lakes at night. Insecticide treatments aren’t necessary. “Without lots of food, these communal webs just don’t seem to form”. “They also are not known to bite or be harmful to humans”.
The spread of the glistening webs hanging on trees are not considered extremely unusual because even if it is generally rare in occurrence, some people are already aware that these types of web art do exist.
Vogtsberger says, “What is really interesting about these spider aggregations is the lack of aggression among spiders of the same species on the same web”. “Finding spiders working together to build a huge web in what was more of a cooperative or “communal” scenario was a real surprise for many experts”, he told AgriLife Today. Although the webs present a spooky appearance, they are pretty benign and a sight that needs to be appreciated rather than being feared.
“If you get the chance to take a drive along CA Roan Drive in Rowlett, you might want to take a few moments to stop and admire this spider handiwork”. They’re typically the most populous resident of these webs, though, with maybe millions in the largest webs with many other species inside as well. “But please don’t touch the art”, Merchant closes.
