Mathieu Debuchy could leave in January admits Arsene Wenger
“I don’t believe that at all”, the Frenchman said in response to a suggestion that Wilshere was doubtful for the Euro 2016 tournament in France.
Wenger signed only one player before the season – goalkeeper Petr Cech – to leave Arsenal as the only team in the Premier League to not recruit an outfield player.
When Wenger was specifically asked about Egyptian midfielder, Mohammed Elneny, who is reported to have passed a medical, he replied: “You know more than I do”, he added. “Unfortunately we can not announce anything at the moment about this player because nothing has been concluded”, Wenger told a news conference ahead of Saturday’s home game against struggling Newcastle United.
England midfielder Wilshere has not played this season after suffering a hairline crack to his fibula towards the end of preseason.
While much has been made about who will arrive in north London during the window, Wenger admitted France worldwide full-back Mathieu Debuchy may be allowed to leave the club.
But the Arsenal boss suggested on Wednesday that he was open to offers for the former Newcastle man, which should alert a host of rival Premier League clubs, including the Magpies.
“It’s a case of staying focused until December and then we’ll see what happens after that”.
