Matt Damon Is Ripped In First ‘Bourne 2016’ Set Photo

“First day of principal photography complete and happy to report, BOURNE is back!” tweeted Frank Marshall, who executive produced all of the Bourne movies.

Damon is back in fighting shape, and looks like that’s exactly what he’s doing in this first scene, with hands wrapped a la a street fighter.

Damon also shows of his body in The Martian, his new film in which he plays an astronaut stranded on Mars when his fellow crew members believe he was killed during an unexpected storm on the red planet.

Matt Damon once said that his days as everyone’s favorite amnesiac badass spy were over as long as Paul Greengrass was done directing Jason Bourne films, but they just couldn’t fight the urge to keep the camera still.

In 2012 Jeremy Renner took the reigns of the franchise with “The Bourne Legacy“.

Damon’s personal trainer Jason Welsh joins him on set while filming the action flick, and told E!

There was a time in movie history when Matt Damon was still an up and coming star – and that period of time stretched well beyond his Oscar-winning work on Good Will Hunting. But Damon did give a few hints in a recent interview. We’re also sensing a real retired warrior vibe, not entirely unlike Rambo.

But with Damon back as Bourne, look for that number to rise.

Bourne 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on July 29th 2016.

It’s yet to be seen what the longevity of the Damon-led Bourne series consists of.
