The action star went on to say people get too “emotional” when it comes to “not selling AK47s to people on terror watchlists”.
“I don’t know what needs to happen”, continued Damon. “Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it”.
Damon, who plays Jason Bourne in the The Bourne Identity series, is often filmed using a variety of firearms for his character. “We just can’t”, Damon told the news site.
The Departed star’s comments come just weeks after Omar Mateen opened fire at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and killed 49 people and injured 53 others in June (16) with a semi-automatic rifle.
“It’s wonderful what Australia did because you guys haven’t had a mass shooting since you went, ‘No, we’re going to be sensible about this, ‘” Damon said.
