Matt Damon Would Star in Nolan-Directed Daredevil Movie
Damon revealed that his favorite superhero character and comic book he read when he was a kid was Daredevil.
“We are thrilled to be working with HBO on this project; we can not think of a better partner to handle this type of film”, said Damon and Affleck in a statement.
Just kidding! But he does have some interest in taking on one of his best friend’s, Ben Affleck’s, former roles. Despite this lost opportunity, Damon did divulge a scenario where he would play Daredevil no questions asked. I hadn’t seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson’s) work and I didn’t know.
“Daredevil” followed Ben as Matt Murdock, the blind attorney from Hell’s Kitchen seeking justice in the courts – and on the streets as the Man without Fear. Besides, after directing the Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan has implied that his time with superheroes is done for the foreseeable future, so him helming a Daredevil movie on principle in also unlikely.
“But when that one came along I chickened out, because I couldn’t tell”. “If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in”, he said, jokingly. And if he did, his desk with Warner Bros would probably prevent him from ever realistically doing a Marvel film.
Unfortunately, Damon doesn’t see himself playing a superhero anytime soon, as he is already getting his action hero fill with the Bourne franchise, and if anything, would be more interested in directing a superhero movie.
“Just putting that out there”, he said, joking. The Netflix series isn’t exactly that, but I’ve enjoyed the first season.
