Matt Harvey is on time for New York Mets’ workout
Harvey is also scheduled to pitch for the Mets in the first round of the playoffs.
The New York Mets starter Matt Harvey missed one of his recent practices and is now taking a lot of heat for it. On Tuesday, he missed the Mets mandatory workouts on Citi Field, according to the Daily News.
“You have to ask Matt”, Alderson said when pressed for Harvey’s whereabouts at the start of the workout. He did not take questions. “I’ve defended him during his crisis, but as he said, there’s no excuse”.
Collins told Newsday that Harvey would be fined for being late but will still start Game 3.
The Mets have veterans like that, from Cuddyer to team captain David Wright to Curtis Granderson.
“It’s about the guys that are here”.
“He was our last pitcher, so pretty much if he got in trouble, we didn’t have anybody”, Hershiser said. “So you will have to talk to Matt about that”.
The Mets star pitcher was a no-show at the team’s Tuesday workout after getting stuck in tunnel traffic.
“Obviously, today was not the greatest”. If we missed one, let us know. “I don’t care. The only thing I care about is he wasn’t here and so that I have to worry about and that I have to take care of and I have”. “I just started warming up”.
“It’s incredible that he showed up late”, Hernandez said Thursday during a phone interview to discuss his assignment as an SNY studio analyst for the playoffs. Mostly the reason for the bashing of Harvey again is because of what transpired with him and his agent Scott Boras about his innings limit not too long ago. He told The Associated Press by phone he wasn’t sure why his client wasn’t at the workout. “I apologized to my teammates”, Harvey said.
“We all know that they’re both two of the best pitchers in the game”, Cuddyer said this week.
“Unfortunately, today I screwed up”. If you don’t talk to Sandy Koufax or Bob Gibson or somebody like that, there’s really nobody else who’s on his level. It’s never happened before. Harvey’s absence creates a distraction that the Mets don’t need right now when all of their focus should be on the Dodgers.
Kershaw pitched 3.2 innings in his last outing, surrendering zero runs and striking out seven in a 6-3 win over the Padres. The All-Star struck out 205 and walked just 38 in 191 innings this season but enters the series 0-2 with a 3.66 ERA in three career starts against the Dodgers. Or, he might be a bullpen option. Gilmartin would be added to the roster if Matz isn’t healthy enough to pitch….
