Matt Hasselbeck: Hasselbeck not sure he’ll be ready Week 14
“I think everybody did, that’s why we had a lot of fun”.
If you’re a glass-half-full sort of person – I’m thinking Johnnie Walker Black – you might be inclined to look at it this way: Next week, the Colts play at Jacksonville. “It was downhill from there” described Coach Pagano “We got beat thoroughly in all three phases. Are we going to fold it up or are we going to dig down deep and go out there and do what we need to do to get into the playoffs?”
ABOUT THE COLTS (6-5): Hasselbeck capped a 315-yard performance by tossing a pair of second-half touchdown passes to T.Y. Hilton as Indianapolis rallied to remain in contention for the division title.
Martavis Bryant hauled in four passes for 114 yards and a score, and DeAngelo Williams added 134 yards rushing as Pittsburgh shook off a slow start to dominate the Colts (6-6) during the final three quarters. Each and every one of us takes pride in the game, and we’re doing a great job and getting better each and every week as a team.
The home side came into the match second in AFC North but it was an error-strewn opening from both sides as possession was turned over three times inside the first three minutes, with Colts wasting an opportunity when Matt Hasselbeck was picked off by Jarvis Jones.
“I don’t know, honestly”, Boykin said, “but I’m going to be excited if I’m on the field”. He was sacked three times on 11 drop-back attempts as the Steelers cranked up their pass rush with the game out of hand.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives. Pittsburgh tried to run early on, and when it was ineffective, the Steelers opened up the playbook and started taking shots downfield.
Frank Gore was stopped after a 1-yard run on first down. Roethlisberger, who threw for 552 yards and six TD’s last year, threw for 364 yards and four touchdowns this year.
Colts number two quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (16 of 26 for 169 yards, 1 interception and 2 picks) had a devil of a time in this game. “We knew it was coming and we didn’t handle it well”, said Hasselbeck after the game.
Hasselbeck said he initially got hurt in the first quarter but the injuries got worse when a brutal third-quarter hit prompted team doctors to take the field to assist him. “Two separate things, same area”. Gore accounted for over 1/3 of the team’s total yards.
The Colts own the tiebreaker over the Texans based on their 27-20 win on October 8, and now are the AFC’s No. 4 seed.
Later, Boswell made his third field goal of the game when he connected from 42 yards out to give his team a 38-10 lead with 6:29 left in the contest.
-The Colts are 15-0 against the AFC South since the start of the 2013 season.
“Chuck pulled me”, he said.
After his star wide receiver scored a late touchdown on a punt return and proceeded to mount the goalpost (failing, however, to stick the dismount), Tomlin didn’t seem particularly concerned. To get there, the flashes the Steelers have shown in pockets – thanks in large part to injuries to Roethlisberger and running back Le’Veon Bell – will have to become a full-fledged flame.
