Matt Kenseth grabs the poll in Charlotte
ONE WEEK, it’s restarts.
“When I feel like it’s time, then I will make that decision”, Johnson said recently.
For a driver who keeps insisting that qualifying isn’t his strong suit, Matt Kenseth continues to excel during NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole days. “The others who don’t know how to do it right sure as heck should learn”.
NASCAR spokesman Steve O’Donnell says the sanctioning body is confident about its pre-race inspections – before any damage may be done to cars during or after a race.
But Keselowski said intentionally damaging the auto is common and he has done it himself.
“I wish we would have done better in that last round”, was Earnhardt’s response to lining up in 12th place. I still think he’s mad he stopped.
“Earnhardt was a huge part of the sport”, Kevin Harvick, NASCAR’s defending champion, said. What I am looking for is that moment.
Harvick had a grueling first round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, which began when he crashed after contact with Jimmie Johnson in the first race. TV spots will also air leading up to the season and during races. With four drivers eliminated last week, the remaining 12 will battle it out to advance to the next round of the NASCAR Playoffs.
Only three drivers led at a few point at Dover. Harvick was pretty much in a must-win situation in Dover, and what did he do? WIN.
“The way he ran today – hell, yeah”, Busch said.
Kenseth led the field when the round 2 of ten minutes started. Chase Elliott, the son of Gordon’s former rival Bill Elliott, will take his seat in the No. 24 Chevy.
Anheuser-Busch’s Busch brand is returning to NASCAR in 2016 by sponsoring Kevin Harvick and the No. 4 team of Stewart-Haas Racing.
“Our Dollar General Camry has been really fast all day”.
I myself am a big fan of this #78 team.
“I’d like to see it earlier, but I’m OK with it”, said Chris Rafferty, who drove to Delaware’s capital city from Rhode Island with Tracy Wright on Saturday. Kyle had rough luck at New Hampshire which made him race his way into the contender round. Wisely, they weren’t motoring home Sunday night.
Saturday’s Hisense 200 Xfinity Series race started as scheduled and managed to finish all 200 laps with only a brief rain delay. “I don’t mind (later starts)”. “It was completely out of my control how many laps we were down”.
There’s also more time for souvenir and concession sales.
Where: Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord.
When: Saturday, 7 p.m. Charlotte has been tough on him lately, he won at Kansas previous year, and he is the king of restrictor plate racing.
Jeff Gordon struggled again in practice at a track he typically runs well at, finishing 16th.
John Wes Townley: Wins first first career Truck race at Las Vegas.
He won at Charlotte last October to coast into the third round of the Chase. Almirola just missed the Chase…
(5) Kasey Kahne, Chevrolet, 190.436 miles per hour. Kahne is a four-time victor at Charlotte. Other notable drivers to not advance were Kyle Larson, Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Joey Logano qualified third, non-Chase driver Greg Biffle was fourth and Denny Hamlin fifth.
