Matt Millen Admits That He Should Have Never Run A Team
Matt Millen sees the lighter side, even if you can’t.
In 2001, Millen left his broadcasting job to become president and CEO of the Lions (with personnel control), a job which ended miserably. He was sacked early in the 2008 season. During his stint at the top of the organization, the Lions had a record of 31-84 for a winning percentage of.270.
Millen, working the Buccaneers-Colts game on FOX, chuckled as he acknowledged that he never should have been trusted with running a franchise.
Since Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford abruptly fired two high-ranking members in the front office following a bludgeoning in London, the team has won three straight games and it seems a fire has been lit under their rear ends.
“A little bit of a tactical error on my part, I had this fleeting dream that I thought maybe I could run a team”, Millen said.
Millen is frequently referred to as one of the most disliked sports figures in Detroit sports history. That was the first time since 1976 that an National Football League team had gone through an entire season without a single win.
