Matthew McConaughey teaching filmmaking course at Texas
Thirty students joined McConaughey and Ross behind the scenes of McConaughey’s new hit movie, “Free State of Jones”. “He’s in the movies”.
“Matthew McConaughey couldn’t find his lecture hall”, someone named Luis Tijerina commented on the university’s Facebook page. His instruction, however, will be provided via recorded videos, though with at least one on-campus visit.
The Oscar-winning actor, 46, will coteach the class with Hunger Games director Gary Ross and university lecturer Scott Rice.
This fall, Matthew McConaughey will bring his Hollywood expertise and heavy Texas drawl to the college classroom.
The course is only open to juniors and seniors, but there are no prerequisites.
The actor is a 1993 graduate from Texas University and is frequently seen on the sidelines at Longhorns football games. Ross and McConaughey recently collaborated on “Free State of Jones“, the story of a medic in the Confederate Army who is labeled a deserter and starts a rebellion uniting farmers and slaves.
Capped at only 30 students, the class is titled “Advanced Producing: Script to Screen”.
Working alongside former foreign secretary William Hague, the actress will teach a class on a Masters course about the impact of war on women.
