Maurkice Pouncey Injury: Updates on Steelers Center’s Ankle and Recovery
It’s a major issue for the Steelers, as Cody Wallace has been a liability in Pouncey’s absence.
Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey may not make it back on the field this season after experiencing complications with his surgically-repaired leg. His recent setback could keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Pouncey had to have a second surgery on his fractured left fibula, removing the metal plate from the initial surgery, to get rid of the infection, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pouncey was injured in an August 23 preseason game and had surgery soon after. As one of the best interior offensive linemen in the National Football League, Pouncey has also been named first-team All-Pro on two occasions.
The five-year National Football League veteran is not eligible to play until Week 9, which he originally targeted as his intended return date, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The Steelers have given up 15 sacks this season, tied for 5th most in the league.
