Max Verstappen has passed his driving test after turning 18
The Dutch youngster turned 18 years old on Wednesday and passed his driving test – unsurprisingly perhaps – at the first attempt.
But it wasn’t when Max Verstappen qualified for his Super License when he was still 17 – and not yet licensed to drive on public roads. “I was a bit nervous about making mistakes, but the exam went well”.
“I could continue competing but I’m stopping”, said Alguersuari who has long spent his spare time working as a DJ and composing music, adding that he had no concerns about his health.
On track, Verstappen has disarmed his critics entirely in just 14 races.
“I made a decision to refrain from because it’s how about change”, he explained on a compress meeting in Madrid.
Former Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Jaime Alguersuari has announced his retirement from motorsport, aged 25.
No teenager has ever led a race or set a fastest lap and no driver under 21 has ever started on pole position, stood on the podium – though Verstappen came close with fourth in Hungary – or won a grand prix. Alguersuari completed the 2009 season with Toro Rosso and stayed for two full seasons before being dropped by the team and from Red Bull’s driver programme at the end of 2011.
