Mayor De Blasio To Unveil Plan Addressing NYC’s Homeless Population

De Blasio has faced criticism after a series of incidents involving emotionally disturbed homeless people, though he insists the number of people living on the streets has “not appreciably increased”.

Safe NYC is also the first part of an effort to stem a rising tide of homelessness on the streets of the nation’s largest city, where the homeless population has risen since de Blasio took office in January 2014. Exactly the same percentage of voters approve of the mayor.

The city is going to spend $6 billion on homelessness over the next four years. More voters surveyed in the poll suggested that they felt that Cuomo better understood the needs and problems of New York City than its mayor. It’s a front-page headline that likely won’t help those poll numbers.
